The Gamescom expo is one of the most highly anticipated video games-related trade fairs all year round, being the event where a lot of prestigious game developers announce their upcoming games. Trailers are revealed, demos are released, and new information about popular upcoming titles surfaces, leaving hardcore games counting the seconds to the release dates. The 2014 edition of Gamescom, which took place between August 13 and August 17, did not disappoint, unveiling some interesting titles. Here are the top 10 titles presented at Gamescom 2014 that are worth your attention. So here is the list of Top 10 most interesting games of 2014.
Assassin’s Creed Unity
All fans of the Assassin’s Creed series are looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Unity, and the wait will be over soon. One of the key point of the new release is the co-op multiplayer mode that will be introduced. Instead of struggling with missions on your own, Assassin’s Creed Unity will let you team up with your friends or with other random players to get the job done. As you can expect, this feature will radically change the way you play Assassin’s Creed.
Sony didn’t miss the opportunity to tease one of its upcoming PS4-exclusive titles once more, and by the looks of it, the game will definitely be worth the wait. The action is set in the abandoned town of Yharnam, which has fallen under a curse, and is now full of undead monsters. Your mission is simple: survive. By the looks of it, though, there will be nothing simple in that.
Until Dawn is an interesting title, as it is basically a reboot of Move, a game designed specifically for the PS3’s move controller. In the reboot, now only was the support for move dropped in favor of the PS4’s new controllers, but the game faced some changes as well, the most notable one being the fact that it’s now a third-person action game, instead of a first-person game, as it was initially designed. For a horror game, this angle change pretty much modifies the whole gameplay.
With some many Battlefield games already out there, the series really needed a new breath, and that’s exactly what Battlefield Hardline promises to bring. From the fields of war, the game moves the action to the crime-filled streets of the big city. The idea and the clips shown so far make the game look very promising.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
The Phantom Pain is a sequel to Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and, while the game doesn’t boast any breath-taking new features, it does come with some improvements in the AI of the enemy, day-night cycles and more subtle features that will make the game more realistic. If you’re a fan of Metal Gear Solid, it’s definitely a must try.
FIFA 2015, as every other game in the series, for that matter, is highly anticipated by the series’ fans. Scheduled to be released at the end of September 2014, the game introduces some new teams, new players and also comes with some subtle features such as the ability to sign a player for a limited number of matches only.
Far Cry 4
If you’ve ever played any game from the Far Cry series, you know just how addictive it can get. Far Cry 4 takes things even further, coming with another suspenseful storyline and a very interesting new feature – cooperative mode, playable even with friends that do not own the game via an interesting invite system that gives them guest access to the game.
Destiny is a combination between role-playing games and first-person shooters, and while this isn’t something totally new, the game plans to become the iconic game of this genre. Coming with impressive graphics and a huge open-world environment, the game aims to redefine the way people thing about multiplayer games – will it succeed? Only time will tell.
Halo 5: Guardians
Halo is one of the biggest names in the field of first-person shooters, so it’s clearly that the developers are on the right path. Halo 5: Guardians promises to come with new features, play modes and a whole new game engine to accommodate for everything.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
The game has an interesting plot: you’re a detective with paranormal abilities, searching for a missing person through a huge open-world environment. The game is set to release at the end of September, so you shouldn’t have to wait for long to see what it’s all about.
